From the mouth of babes

18 Apr

While playing outside:

Jonah: “Uh oh, Mommy, there is a siren. Let’s say a prayer.”

While trying to make a dinner for a friend:

Me: “James, seriously, why must you always pull everything out of the drawers? You are driving me nuts.”

James: “Bhag ga wha ga, weeeee!” as he begins chewing on the potato scrubber.

During prayer table this morning:

Me: “Let’s say a prayer for Auntie Mi-Mi today.”

Annie: “Ok, why?”

Me: “Because it was six years ago today that her Papa died. It is a tough day for her because she misses him.”

Annie: “Oh, that is sad. But he is in Heaven, so that is joyful!”

After discovering that Jonah had locked everyone, including himself, out of the Master bedroom and bathroom (for the millionth time):

Me: “Jonah, why on Earth did you lock these doors?”

Jonah: “I don’t know.”

Me: Grumble, grumble, grumble under-my-breath-inappropriate-to-type-out-explicit-language.

At nap time:

Annie: “Mommy, I think you need to take a nap, too!”

Me: “Why?”

Annie: “Because you need a break.”

So, that’s our day so far…how’s yours going?

I wonder… what do you think James might have been trying to tell us when he said “Bhag ga wha ga, weeeee!”?
Hmmmmm (: It’s so good to be reminded of all the beauty in these ordinary days. Thank you friend.
