No closer

11 Jan

So after two more appointments with specialists this week, 8 tubes of blood drawn and 4 samples of poop collected (Ewwww!  I know…I’m scarred for life), we are no closer to figuring out Jonah’s chronic anemia, low muscle tone and bloated abdomen.

Four years in the works and still no answers.

I truly believe that he is meant to be a mystery to us and the 15+ doctors who have cared for him.  Thankfully, though, due to his strict diet and nutrition regimen, he doesn’t have any symptoms that bother him anymore, so there is that.  Right?  right.

He takes it all in stride.  He’s a good boy, gentle in spirit, and so patient with all of the poking and prodding.  Issues or not, we’ll just keep on loving and loving and loving the heck out of him.  He is our constant reminder that we will all be made perfect in Christ.  This life is passing.  Heaven is eternal.  There, there shall be no more suffering, no more pain, no more sadness, no more death.  God will be all and all.

Hi, Amanda! I am so glad to see a fervent Catholic “mom blog”! I read so many wonderful and inspiring blogs by Evangelical Christian moms – but Catholic mom-bloggers are not so common.

I’d like to say my own blog radiates faith, but I’m not sure it always does.

I’m so glad you see the bright side with your son’s condition. My [now grown-up] son began life only a bit over a pound, very premature and with an “idiopathic” illness that prevented him from being able to digest fats … or, so they thought. Either God cured him or they were wrong….in any case. God is good! NONE of the horrid things they forecast came to be…”He could be blind, but his vision will be compromised.” “He will not be able to participate in sports.” “There will probably be a host of learning challenges.” Not ONE of those came true – Aidan works in Cyber Intelligence; he never even had to wear glasses, and he is playing goalie on a hockey team made up of semi-pro players! God bless your sweet boy!
