Seven and Sunny

2 May

Today is this big girl’s seventh birthday.

She is pretty stoked!

Amid all of the boxes, packing, phone calls, finishing up school, still running an atrium, carting to and from extra curricular activities, it has been a crazy couple of months here.  Her birthday present showed up last night (phew!).  We can’t swing a party this year, but we are doing our best to make this day special for her—even if it means eating off of paper towels with plastic silverware!

Her day began with opening cards from friends and family, eating her favorite breakfast (smoothies and cereal), then on to a small bit of work (go homeschooling and being done with over 95% of your school work by the beginning of May), lunch of pb & js at the park, a quiet afternoon of reading, and then dinner and gifts tonight.   Friends and family have called to sing her happy birthday, and each time, she is lite up with smiles and joy.  It is the simple things, and that I love most about her!

In an effort to remember just a bit of her loves and dislikes at this age, a little interview of sorts:

What is your favorite color(s)?

pink and purple

What is your favorite sport?  Why?

Gymnastics because I like learning to do fun things like cartwheels (on the beam—scary!), bars, somersaults and all of the other fun stuff.

Who is your favorite friend?

What do you like to do during your “free time?”

Read Little House on the Prairie books and playing with my “kids” (stuffed animals).

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A doctor.

What is your favorite and least favorite meal?

Favorite is beef and noodle and my least favorite is stir fry.

What is your favorite dessert?

Ice cream pie!

What is your favorite and least favoirte subject in school?

Least Favorite=grammar

What do you like to do with your brothers?

 Read to them.

What do you like to do with your family?

Play Sorry and wrestle with daddy and the boys.

What do you like to do with your friends?

Bring them to gymnastics with me.

What is the most important thing that you know about God?

That He gave His whole life up for us.

There is something truly awesome as a parent watching your children blossom into individuals with kind, compassionate, and God-loving personalities.  Am I right?  Analise has such a zest for life and while sometimes I think we have entered mood swings of a teenager 10 years too early, her passion and drive help her to be an incredibly focused little girl.  She loves her family and friends fiercely and I’ve been utterly humbled by her deep love for Jesus.

Yeah, I think she is pretty awesome.  And, I pray that she knows just how much she is loved—today and always.
